Team Leadership Skills – 2 days

This 2-day course is designed for those who find themselves appointed or promoted into a team leader position where they are required to supervise and lead staff. Whether newly appointed or experienced in leadership this course mixes theory with practical advice and provides delegates with the skills and confidence to lead effectively.

Course Length: 2 eight hour days to include lunch and refreshment breaks
Venue: On site at client’s premises
Number of Delegates: Maximum of 12
Cost: £1,600 to include all materials and associated expenses (not VAT registered). NB this is the cost for delivery of the course with up to 12 delegates, NOT a per-delegate price.

Course Aims

  1. To provide the necessary theory and skills to lead effectively
  2. To practice applying the theory and skills learned

Course Outcomes

  1. Describe action centred leadership, and define the activities involved of an effective team leader
  2. Identify the differences between a leader and a manager
  3. Know the pitfalls of being too task, team or individually focused
  4. Identify whether they are TASK or PROCESS driven as team leaders, and therefore adjust their style accordingly
  5. Understand the S.M.A.R.T. model for setting tasks/performance objectives for staff
  6. Set SMART based objectives for themselves and their staff
  7. Understand the range of performance standards that can be applied in the workplace, and how to communicate these standards to staff
  8. Apply the EEC model for effective feedback on performance
  9. Recall and apply a range of influencing techniques, including assertiveness
  10. Deal confidently with a range of difficult situations/people at work
